The Skinny: I'm Matthew Randall, a fishing-obsessed 30-something from Toronto, Canada. I love to share what I know through my fishing reports, videos and sharing on social media. I've been fishing since I was 4 years old and have become pretty good at it.
A little more... I’m super passionate about the environment, animals, and plant life. I’ve been very fortunate to be able to focus on all three as a career. As an Investigator at the Ministry of the Environment, I get to spend my days enforcing the rules that protect our planet. Keeping our lakes and rivers clean makes me super excited and I can't wait to share this beautiful environment with future generations.
If you came here to find out what kayak, lures or rods I use, check out my gear page.
I grew up in Nova Scotia, arguably the most beautiful province in our amazing country. I learned to love fishing from my dad, who still fishes just as much as I do. From a young age, he brought me along on all of his fishing trips where I learned the basics from him and his buddies. He is now a trained guide along the south shore and has no plans to retire any time soon.
All of my jobs and education have been fishing- or environment-related. As a kid, I built river walls and tracked lake fish varieties in Nova Scotia. I later graduated from Sir Sanford Fleming College with a double diploma as a Fish & Wildlife Technician and an Ecosystem Management Technician, and have been with the Ministry ever since.
When not protecting or enjoying our gorgeous country's waterways, I love to spend my time with my beautiful girlfriend Karen, our daughter, our family, and our friends. In the summer I search tirelessly for the perfect yard sale or get out of the city for back-country camping adventures. I'm a decent cook who prefers to use a cast iron pan wherever possible, and my palate for good wine has improved exponentially since meeting Karen.
I'd love to meet you! Drop me a line any time!
